Anthropic has confirmed it is developing an identity-verification system, internally named FlashProve, designed to let users confirm that an AI-generated response genuinely originated from the model it claims to represent. The initiative addresses a growing problem in the AI industry: as multiple providers deploy models with similar capabilities, users and enterprises have limited means of verifying which system produced a given output. According to details shared by the company, FlashProve would attach cryptographic or otherwise verifiable signals to model responses, allowing third parties to check provenance without necessarily trusting the provider's own claims.

The announcement comes amid heightened scrutiny of AI transparency and accountability, with regulators in several jurisdictions pressing companies to disclose how their systems operate and to combat impersonation and misattribution. Anthropic has not specified a release timeline or detailed the technical mechanisms underpinning FlashProve, and it remains unclear whether the system would be offered as an open standard or remain proprietary. Independent researchers have noted that any such verification scheme would need broad industry adoption to be effective, since a single company's solution cannot authenticate outputs from rival models. Anthropic said further information would be released as development progresses.
